A new facility on 64 Mill Street in Southbridge, MA will house manufacturing of new medical devices Sturbridge, Mass…Optim Incorporated, a premier manufacturer of flexible endoscopes and accessories announces that it will be opening a new clean room manufacturing facility in Southbridge, MA. Optim’s planned expansion and the addition of manufacturing capacity, originally slated to occur at a newly constructed facility in Sturbridge, for which Optim and the Town of Sturbridge received a pre-award MORE Jobs grant notification of $750K to bring public water infrastructure to the Sturbridge Technology Park, has been sidelined because the final award has not yet been granted. “It is disappointing to us, as I am sure it is for everyone involved in the grant process, that the final award had not been granted”, said Thomas V. Root, President and CEO of Optim Incorporated. “I am thankful for the efforts of everyone from the Town of Sturbridge, and the Mass Office of Business Development, however, our project is moving forward and although we would prefer it to be more contiguous to our current operations, we were very fortunate that the Mill Street Facility was available to us through our collaboration with Optimum Technologies of Southbridge” said Root. This Class 10,000 clean room will be used for the manufacturing and packaging of disposable transesophogeal ultrasound probes and reusable handles for a northeast start-up company. The new TE probe addresses an unmet need in critical care facilities, and capitalizes on Optim’s manufacturing skills in endoscopic devices, along with its innovative design expertise.
